Environmental Initiatives and
Reclamation and Rehabilitation (R&R)

Large-scale Afforestation: Since the 1990s, we have undertaken massive afforestation not only within the mine but also within a radius of 25 km surrounding the mine including village roads, state-highways, schools, hospitals. To support local communities we planted fruit trees such as mango, tamarind, etc. Our efforts have been appreciated by faculty from ISM-Dhanbad, ICFRE -appointed by the Hon’ble Supreme Court, State Govt., etc.

Substantial reduction in Carbon Footprint was achieved with the construction of a railway line up to our mines in Chitradurga District.

Nurseries: In 2004, we developed three nurseries with one lakh saplings of endemic species. These saplings are continually used for plantations around our mines.
